Eligibility & Age Requirements

Who can open a Level Up Jr. Savings Account?
Children ages birth-12 years old can have a Level Up Jr. Savings Account. An adult must be a joint owner on the account.
What happens when my child turns 13?
The account automatically converts to a Regular Savings Account, giving them continued access to their savings with features appropriate for teens.
Can I open this account if my child already has a Regular Savings account with EFCU Financial?
No, the Level Up Jr. account acts as the member's share account and cannot be added if a Regular Savings account already exists. Contact us to convert your existing Regular Savings to a Level Up Jr. Account.

Account Opening & Funding

How much do I need to open the account?
Only $5 to establish membership shares and open the account.
How does the $25 welcome bonus work?
We'll deposit $25 into your child's account 30 days after opening. This bonus is available for new accounts only (not conversions from other account types).

Account Management

Can my child access the money in their account?
As the joint owner, you maintain control of the account while teaching your child about saving and banking. Together, you can decide when and how to use the funds.
Are there any monthly fees?
No, there are no monthly maintenance fees on the Level Up Jr. Savings Account.
Are deposits protected?
Yes! All deposits are federally insured by the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) up to $250,000.

Grades Deposit Program

How does the Grades Deposit Program work?
We reward good grades with our Get Paid for Good Grades program! Here's how it works:
  • $5 for each A (or A equivalent for elementary students)
  • Eligible at the end of fall and spring semesters (not for 9-week report cards)

Disclosure:

EFCU Financial membership eligibility required. Must be 0-12 years of age to qualify. Minors must have a parent or guardian as joint accountholder on the Level Up Jr. Savings account. This account acts as a regular share account and cannot be opened in addition to another regular share account. The Level Up Jr. Savings account will convert to a Regular Share account when the primary accountholder reaches the age of 13. There is no excessive withdrawal fees associated with this account. Highest attainable grade on the report card pertains to each individual semester-end report card grading scale (including A or highest-grade equivalent to an A). Any EFCU Financial minor account can earn $ 5.00 per A/highest-grade equivalent to an A; and $ 10.00 per A/highest-grade equivalent to an A for Level Up checking with a debit card. Copy of official semester-end report card required. Report card must be in youth accountholder's name, school name, and date or year to qualify for rewards. Grades may be submitted for the current school year until the following school year begins. Report cards are accepted for either of the major semesters, such as May-end and December-end, or terms, such as spring or fall terms. The one-time $ 25.00 deposit will be paid after the Level Up account has been opened for 30 days. Existing accounts with a primary accountholder age 0-12 may convert to the Level Up Jr. Savings account but are ineligible for the one-time $ 25.00 opening deposit.
