EFCU Financial – Online and Mobile Banking Privacy Policy
EFCU Financial
Online and Mobile Banking Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 12, 2026
1. Introduction and Scope
EFCU Financial (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our members’ personal information. We value the trust you place in us to keep your personal finances and other information confidential, and we maintain strict policies on member confidentiality.
This Online and Mobile Banking Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) describes how EFCU Financial collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit or use www.efcufinancial.org, the EFCU Financial online banking platform, and the EFCU Financial mobile banking application (collectively, the “Sites”). By using the Sites, you consent to the terms and conditions of this Policy, including your consent to our use and disclosure of information about you in the manner described herein.
2. Access Requirements
You may gain access to your accounts through any internet-enabled device supported by EFCU Financial. It is your responsibility to safeguard your login credentials and to notify EFCU Financial immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
3. Types of Information We Collect
3.1 Personal Information We Collect
When you interact with us through the Sites, we may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide, including but not limited to:
• Name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number
• Social Security number and driver’s license or state identification number
• Payment card information and bank account numbers
•Transaction data and account activity
• Limited location information (for example, a ZIP code to help you find a nearby ATM or branch)
We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you access the Sites, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including:
• The Internet Protocol (IP) address of the device you use to connect to the Sites
• Browser type and version, operating system, and device identifiers
• Access times and dates, referring URLs, and the pages you visit on the Sites
• Search engine used and website visited before and after the Sites
3.3 Biometric Information
We may collect your biometric information when you use mobile banking. Biometric information includes a unique biological pattern or characteristic—such as a fingerprint, voiceprint, or scan of face geometry—that is used to identify a specific individual. We may use your biometric information to:
• Verify or authenticate your identity
• Detect and prevent fraud
• Enhance safety and security
If you enable biometric login (e.g., Touch ID, Face ID) on your mobile device, our mobile banking application uses your device’s built-in biometric sensor technology. EFCU Financial does not access or store the actual biometric data; it only confirms that the biometric credential is valid on your device. By enabling biometric login, every person with an enrolled biometric credential on your device may have access to your account. It is your responsibility to manage this access. If your device is lost or stolen, you must disable biometric login immediately.
3.4 Mobile Banking Information
When you use the EFCU Financial mobile banking application, we may collect:
• Geolocation data, if you have opted in to location services on your device
• Device information, including device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
• App usage data, including features accessed and session duration
3.5 Location Data
For your convenience, you may be asked to grant permission for access to your mobile device's geolocation data. If you have enabled location services on your phone and agree to the collection of your location when prompted by the EFCU Financial mobile banking application, we will collect location data when you use the EFCU Financial mobile banking application, even when the app is closed or not in use; for example, to provide our fraud detection services. If you do not want us to collect this information, you may decline the collection of your location when prompted or adjust the location services settings on your device.
If you initially consented to the collection of geo-location information through the EFCU Financial mobile banking application, you can subsequently stop the collection of this information at any time by changing the preferences on your mobile device. Please note, however, that if you withdraw consent to our collection of location information, you may no longer be able to use some features of the App.
3.6 SMS Text Messaging
We use SMS data for:
• Responding to your inquiries and providing requested support.
• Providing account alerts and promotional notifications.
• Sending one-time verification codes for secure authentication.
Disclosure of Information
We do not sell, share, or disclose your phone number or SMS data to third parties, except:
• As required to comply with legal obligations.
• With service providers who assist in delivering secure SMS communications (e.g., SMS gateways or authentication platforms).
Security of Your Information
We protect your SMS-related data through:
• Secure transmission and encryption of one-time verification codes and SMS messages.
• Limiting access to employees who need this information to assist you.
• Regular monitoring to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Your Rights
You may opt out of receiving SMS communications at any time by replying “STOP” to any of our messages or contacting us directly. Please note: opting out may affect your ability to receive one-time verification codes or engage in SMS-based support.
